Case Study – State Library of Victoria

December 15, 2018

We are excited to share with you these captivating images of the recently completed refurbishment of the State Library of Victoria designed by Architectus.

Picking up on the historic charm of this 160 year old building, the Russell St entrance to the library has come alive with a 25m wide x 5 ½m high mural portraying images from books in the Redmond Barry collection, overlaid with artifacts by visual artist Tai Snaith. You can find out more about Tai’s creative thinking behind the project in this super video.

Like a lot of projects we are seeing, the library took advantage of Baresque’s digital print capability by bringing us some incredibly unique artwork that they had developed themselves. We were even able to match the base colour of the print to a paint sample achieving a perfect tie in of the mural to existing woodwork in the space.

Printed on our fire rated Serene Seraphic Digital Print Wallcovering, this was an intense project with a concept to completion leadtime of just 3 weeks. Baresque’s digital print team pulled everything together to keep things running on track from concept through to sample and installation by one of our recommended expert installers. Seeing the final result on the wall in this wonderful space just blew us away!
